SAC actively works to advocate for communication health, serving as the voice for members and associates with the provincial and federal government. In 2019, SAC launched the Vote Communication Health Campaign which aims to push communication health issues to the forefront of federal government agendas.

Specifically launched surrounding the 2019 federal election, this campaign focuses on three main issues:

  1. All children in Canada deserve access to timely and high-quality hearing health services, asking the federal government to establish national hearing health guidelines for children.
  2. Canada’s seniors need improved access to community-based speech-language pathology and audiology services, asking the federal government to expand Canada’s publicly funded healthcare system to include access to community-based speech-language pathology and audiology services.
  3. Canada needs a national approach to the delivery of speech-language pathology services for children and adolescents, asking the federal government to initiate a national study to better understand — and ultimately improve — the delivery of speech-language pathology services available to children and adolescents.
